A little word from the editor

We have now been up and running for a little while. We are constantly evolving, « tweaking » and trying to make the right decisions in terms of the editorial direction which best reflects us.

The articles seen here are selected for their pertinence and for what we consider to be outstanding « elements » of the Parisian scene. In the future, we wont be limiting these articles to Paris or even France alone.  The creative process, to us, is about a « cross pollination of trends ». All across the board. To us, it is more about unifying common threads on a much larger scale; tapping into central themes and cultural directions everywhere; pointing out that which affects us in a unique way… We will be focusing on the bigger picture in the future. This is how is how we intend to pursue with Paris Papers..

Back to the articles and content of Paris papers; NONE of the articles are sponsored links or provide us with any financial « reward ». Aside from merely passing on informative selections; what we consider to be interesting, we just like to point out authentic aspects that revolve around the contemporary Parisian scene. We will someday perhaps include, discretely, ads that aim to complement these posts. This is what we will have to do if we want to keep on posting items to a keen, literate and demanding public. Certain click through ads, we feel, are not coherent with our graphic interface in the long term.

We will slowly be carving out more time for this site, (and no, we do not nurture this little site exclusively; we use the little free time we have available, so that Paris Papers can flourish), however, we eventually DO want to focus on our blog more exclusively.

We will be developing a page around certain key players in Paris; the « Paris People section » (under construction) as well as aspiring to a more tech-rich agenda in the future. For the moment, we rely on our Facebook page for this. So far, we have attempted to grow on in a more « organic » way ; focusing on quirky and whimsical items. From all our research and endeavors,  a certain personality has been forged. With it, an element of humour and irony has emerged. Updates, playlists and and specialist themes will be featured here on the « Buzz » page very soon. That’s it. In the mean time, follow the link below.

    Vice Versa hotel
Chantal Thomass needs no introduction. Just in case you haven’t heard of her; she could be considered to be the guru of lingerie. Her name would be next to these terms in the dictionary; sexy, feminine and iconoclastically edgy. Translate this slant within the context of interior decoration and this is where the Vice Ve […]

    l’oeil du globe
Whilst doing some research, we were literally hit by a site that stood out with its flashy fluorescent yellow home page.  We had seen l’oeil du globe, or « global eye » before and in conjunction with some impressive art portfolios that are represented on their Facebook page. Now we put t […]

    Rosa Bonheur sur Seine
You have no doubt been aware for sometime of the peniche and “seine side” opening of the Rosa Bonheur establishment. We wanted to mention this as our first back-to-work post; as a “memo” if you prefer, to highlight one of the multiple ways one can extend that holiday vibe in Paris under the September sun. Th […]

    Fleux
Having dropped off my children at school, I decided to amble down the road instead of running back home to fulfill the usual daily rituals that make up the schedule of a freelancing mum. A certain shop had already caught my eye on another occasion and I had always assumed it was a sort of DIY -bric-a brac -bazaar type entity, much l […]

    Chips ahoy
The sunken chip is a blessing when spending longer periods in Paris and the yearning for fab fish and chips from yonder is just too much to bear. You’ll probably be strolling along the canal regularly anyway; if not just to soak up the hive of activity around this time of year resulting from impromptu events, flea markets and […]

    Hotel-O
Don’t get this hotel confused with the erotic book; the Story of O. The appeal of the hotel O lies elsewhere and mostly in conjunction with the modern requirements of a busy, capital hopping jet setter who requires all the props of a modern boutique hotel; calm, clean lines and functional sobriety, with an emphasis on design and […]

    Faust
Faust is a newly opened terrace area under the Pont Alexandre, which is making some noise due to the air of mystery that surrounds what’s to come in terms of their official agenda and clientele. Consisting of 2000m2 of space by this coveted part of the Seine, an authentic Airstream caravan is at one end for easy-cheezy snacks an […]

    Le Tambour.
We would not be adequately reflecting the longstanding habits of Parisians if we didn’t talk about “older” haunts from time to time. We’re not just about mentioning the new hangouts hailed by quirky visionaries; sometimes we need to draw attention to age-old establishments, even if they remain a little “frayed arou […]

    Ich & Kar
Such a cool name for a graphic design combo whose extensive work you’ve no doubt seen in Paris or elsewhere for years. The team behind the Arte channel Corporate Identity (amongst tons of other clients) has been the innovative driving force behind many of the menus and restaurant “branding” that are listed on this site […]

    Djoon
We’ve been meaning to write about this established club for a while now; their line-ups just keep on catching our eye and with all the movement that is particular to the Paris club scene right now, this club has remained true to its identity and grown from strength to strength. Whilst a lot of the clubs continue to focus on elec […]

    Marvelous Island
We wrote about last year’s edition and this one promises to be equally delectable especially as festivals go within Paris, a rarity. If clubbing is not your thing, you should really make an exception for this outdoor island 4-day fest. The surreal setting provides an incredibly striking backdrop to the 100 odd DJ’s […]

    Nüba
Imagine a handful of the capitals most dapper club promoters (From Baron & Chez Moune fame) aligning with one another and choosing one of the coolest new venues in which to house their new offspring. You would come up with Le Nüba. A fresh and younger take on its elder “siblings” especially where the door policy and drinks […]

    French touche
Alongside the concept store Colette that needs no introduction, a quirky little vintage-orientated concept store is feeding its fan base with fabulous clothes, crockery and all sorts of lesser-known “collectible” items in the eclectic and diverse 17th district. Beware; this shop is a trap, and you need to be patient an […]

“Curiouser & curiouser”; etre par 6
This Saturday is the performance of some very dear friends of ours at an amazing gallery and private home in the 5th. You may have already noticed some scattered performances by the members (together or separately) around the capital and in incongruous settings. In this case, now is the time to […]

    Hotel 123 Sebastepol
When visiting Paris, the first thing that comes to mind is not particularly French cinema, but one must remember that this is a very strong industry referred to in French as the “7th art form”. A very popular hotel stands out in this context in that it is entirely based on this theme and this makes it a quite uniq […]
